Snowboard Park Etiquette

You can have all kinds of great fun at the snowboard park. It’s the perfect place to practice your jumps and meet new people. But there is park etiquette you need to follow.

1. If two of you reach a jump at the same time the person that is going the fastest hit it first.

2. If you hear someone yell “My turn” or “I’m going” or any thing that sounds somewhat like that you should wait until it clears and there is no one behind you.

3. Watch for people not paying attention and cutting you off. That sucks!

4. If you fall down get up because other riders aren’t going to see you lying in the snow. Unlike Superman they don’t have X-ray vision. They can’t see if you clear a jump or fall down so get the heck out of the way ASAP.

5. Be courteous to other rides. You know how you hate it when some rider with a lot of bad attitude gets in your face. It’s enough to ruin your day so don’t do it to others. Everyone needs to be having some fun.

6. There are all kinds of jumps you’ll see in a snowboard park and over time you’ll probably land up doing most of them yourself.

Spine – This non conventional jump extends down a good part of the park. You can do a quick 180 or 360. It’s kind of like a huge speed bump.

Gap Jump – This is a very challenging jump which combines two small jumps. You have to clear a gap on the middle top while doing the trick.

Half Pipe– You will go up the wall of the pipe, bend your knees and reach for the lip spring up and then try to land on your feet – it’s tricky!

Table Top – Is a fun jump is like a regular jump but the top has been flattened out. It’s easier on your knees and your landing is much better.

7. Hills – some of the jumps look more like hills then regular jumps do but they are more pointed at the top edge. Perfect for going off the sides.

These rules aren’t like ski resort rules which are written in stone and these aren’t written rules. They are just rules that every boarder should know and respect so that everyone at the park has a good time.

The snowboard park is the perfect place to take your board for a ride and with a little park etiquette you’ll all have a lot of fun and you’ll even meet some new friends. Isn’t that what life’s all about fun and friends?
