How To Fit Your Salomon Snowboard Boots
Your snowboard boots and bindings work together to keep your body attached to your board. A pair of Salomon snowboard boots or other good boots will give you the best possible control over your snowboard while at the same time protecting your feet and ankles. That’s why a good fit is critical and here is how to get that good fit. It’s important to understand how your snowboard boot works by transferring energy from your foot to your bindings and then to your board. If your boots are too big some of your leg muscles will be forced to work too hard causing you to tire. That’s why a proper fit is so important. To get the best fit you should shop later in the day when your feet are the largest. When you are boarding your feet are going to swell a half size so you want to make sure you have accommodated for that. When you are trying on your boots you need to follow these simple steps. 1. Wear your snowboarding socks when you are trying on boots. The added thickness makes a difference in fit and size. Using your regular socks will have you coming up short on the slope. 2. It’s okay to have your toes gently touching the tip of your boot but you need to make sure they aren’t cramped. Remember that the boots are will stretch a bit over time. 3. When trying on boots make sure your heel is tucked snugly against the back of the boot. 4. When trying on boots make sure you properly undo the laces to get your foot into the boot correctly and then do them up just as you would for the slopes. That’s the only way you can tell if the boot actually fits properly. 5. Walk around for a bit so that you really feel how the boot fits under load. Bend your knees, stand on your toes, do all the types of moves you would do on the slope. Be sure to lean forward, backward, and put pressure on the outer edge of your foot. Make sure there are no areas of pain or pinching. 6. Remember as you wear your boots the inside bladder will compact down a bit leaving you with some wiggle room. 7. There is a misconception that you should wear two pair of socks when on the slopes. That’s actually incorrect. You need to wear one good thick pair to get the maximum warmth so fit your boots for that. That’s it. It’s really quite simple isn’t it? You’ll be enjoying your new Salomon snowboard boots on the slopes any day now.
